SNMP is Simple Network Management Protocol, as defined in RFC 1157.

SNMP usually runs on UDP ports 161 (monitoring) and 162 (traps).

l7-filter uses the snmp pattern. It has been well tested.

For monitoring traffic only, it uses the snmp-mon pattern.

And for traps traffic only, it uses the snmp-trap pattern.
